Dry Needling
Dry needling uses dry, filiform needles to target myofascial trigger points. These areas can be particularly tender to touch, pressure, and movement. The needle is inserted intramuscularly at the site of these points, which stimulates the myofascial tissue. Dry needling helps by bringing blood flow to encourage healing and releasing tension within the tissues, which can help alleviate pain and restore range of motion. Although similar in nature, dry needling is not acupuncture. Acupuncture typically focuses more on restoring the flow of energy throughout the body, while the goal of dry needling is to relieve tension by stimulating myofascial trigger points.
